I got this recipe from my mother's mother's mother when I was very little. I wrote it out in my tiny handwriting on a notecard. Years later, when Dad went to make it, he did exactly as the instructions said. I'd written "1 1/4 cup bourbon", by which I meant one single quarter cup of bourbon. Dad used the "1 1/4 cup" the recipe indicated, then had to make up for the mess with extras of the other ingredients. He had bourbon balls from here to next week...
Ingredients
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp cocoa
- 1 cup ground Vanilla wafers
- 1/4 cup bourbon
- 2 Tbsp Karo syrup
- 1 cup ground nuts
Why Was an 8 Year Old Making Bourbon Balls?
Sift the powdered sugar and cocoa together. Combine the mixture with the rest of the ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well, using your hands if you need to. Roll into 1" balls and roll in powdered sugar.
Notes and Hints and Stuff
- Can I Use Rum or Kahlua or Something?
Dunno, but I imagine it would work just fine.
