Don't Live by Bread Alone
|
|
There's something very homey and comforting about making your own bread. It's not as hard
as people would have you think, just like growing roses isn't that hard. If you're a newbie,
try banana bread. It's easy and fast.
- Amish Friendship Bread Starter: This
is the starter for the Amish Friendship Bread recipes. It takes 10 days to prepare, so plan ahead.
- Amish Friendship Bread Recipes: Things to
do with the starter once you have it.
- Banana Bread: Yeah, sure, you can make it
from a mix, but sometimes it's actually easier to just make it from scratch,
if you have all the ingredients and going to the store for a mix sounds like
a chore.
- Blueberry Muffins with Streusel Topping: Fresh muffins
from scratch, with a nice streusel topping.
- Blueberry Muffins: Another version of blueberry muffins. A bit sweeter tasting, more cakey than the previous.
- Buttermilk Waffles: Much tastier than Eggos, but more complicated to make!
- Cinnamon Rolls:
Pillsbury will let you make these fresh, but let's face it, their idea of
cinnamon rolls and real cinnamon rolls don't match. These are real.
- Fry Bread: If the Divine Spirit made bread, this is what it would be like.
- Fry Bread II: Another variation on fry bread.
- Kah-Nee-Tah Fry Bread: I got this recipe when I went to Kah-Nee-Tah with my parents when I was about 12.
- Southwest Style Fry Bread: A recipe from my original days at Nerd Camp.
- Gingerbread French Toast:
Breakfasty goodness, no actual baking required.
- Gingerbread Oven Pancake: Another in a series of gingerbread breakfast foods. Looks impressive, easy to make!
- Gingerbread Waffles: A spicy sweet waffle, thicker than regular waffles.
- Irish Soda Bread:
This bread is super fast to make, and really filling.
- Pretzels: The big soft pretzels that are great dipped in cheese or smothered in mustard, or plain!
- Sourdough Bread Starter: Make your own
starter for homemade sourdough bread!
- Zucchini Bread: Most excellently moist.
- Zucchini Blueberry Bread: I was dubious at first, but it's really good. If you like zucchini bread and blueberry muffins, this is perfect.
