Chocolate Chai Bundt

This is so, so not healthy. It's 534 calories a serving, and 12 grams of saturated fat, 6 grams of trans fat, and 10 grams of monounsaturated fat. Stop right here. Do not make this amazingly tasty yummy scrumptious cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 box devils' food cake mix
  • 1 1/4 cups chai nog (like Oregon Chai - available at the holidays only)
  • 2 cups mini semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup hazlenuts, toasted and chopped
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream

Who Needs a Waistline?

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare the cake mix according to the package directions, but substitute the chai for the water. Fold in 1 cup each of mini chocolate chips and chopped hazelnuts.

Pour into a 10 cup bundt pan. Bake 50 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then invert onto a rack, remove pan, and cool completely.

You Have a Glazed Look In Your Eye

In a small saucepan, melt the rest of the chocolate with the heavy cream, cook and stir for 5 minutes until smooth, stirring occasionally. Pour over the cake. Garnish with silver dragees, raspberries, or whatever floats your boat. Serves 12.

Notes and Hints and Stuff

  • I Don't Have a Bundt Pan
I have never tried this in a non-bundt pan, but see no reason it shouldn't work. Do pay more attention to the cooking, though, it will probably be a different timing than this recipe gives.
  • I Can't Find Chai Nog
Chai nog is only available at the holidays. You can use regular chai, or another flavor of chai, but it won't be quite as perfectly heavenly.
  • I Hate Hazelnuts
So leave them out. Or use pecans or almonds or some other nut you do like.
