Fantastic Fudge

Fudge. You know, chocolatey goodness. This is the old recipe off the marshmallow creme jar. The recipe on there now appears to be different (or maybe I inadvertantly switched brands of creme, but I don't think so.) This one has served me well for years.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 2/3 cup butter
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 cups (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 7 oz jar marshmallow creme
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Fudge, Fudge, Call the Judge

Combine milk, butter and sugar in a heavy , 2.5-3 quart saucepan. Bring to full rolling boil, stirring constantly. Boil 5 minutes over medium heat or until candy thermometer reaches 234, stirring constantly.

Remove from heat, stir in chocolate chips until melted. Add marshmallow creme, nuts, and vanilla until blended. Pour into greased 8-9" square pan. Cool, cut into squares.

Notes and Hints and Stuff

  • What About Vanilla Fudge?
Honestly, I've never tried any other kind of chips than semisweet, but I don't see why vanilla or butterscotch wouldn't work.
