Gingerbread French Toast

Most people can make plain french toast. It's not that hard. Well, this isn't any harder...it's actually pretty much just your basic french toast recipe. I'm hunting now for a decent baked french toast recipe too.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • salt
  • 3 or 4 slices of thick bread (egg bread, sourdough, challah)
  • Butter or cooking spray
  • Toppings

French Toast, and French Fries, and French Dressing...

Preheat a large skillet on low. Crack the eggs into a large pie pan or shallow dish. Beat them with a fork or small whisk, and drizzle in the milk. Whisk until smooth. Add the cinnamon, ginger, allspice and a pinch of salt, and beat slowly until smooth and even.

Dip a slice of bread, both sides, until it is completely soaked. Be careful, it gets mushy and rips easily. Put the bread on a plate, and dip the rest of the bread at the same time.

Coat the pan with butter or cooking spray, and turn the heat up to medium-high. Cook the soaked bread on both sides until they're browned and crisp all over. Serve hot with toppings of your choice.
