Magic Cookie Bars

This is one of those recipes that you can always find in Better Homes and Gardens, along with coupons for coconut and chocolate. So what, it's yummy.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1 (14 oz) can Sweetened Condensed milk
  • 1 (6 oz) package chocolate chips
  • 3 1/2 oz sweetened flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Baking For Non Bakers

Preheat oven to 350. Melt the butter, pour into a 13"x9" baking pan. Sprinkle crumbs over butter, mix to form a crust, and press evenly into the bottom of the pan.

Pour condensed milk evenly over the crust. Top evenly with remaining ingredients. Press down firmly over entire top.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes, or until top is lightly browned. Cool thoroughly. Cut into 1-2" squares, store loosely covered at room temperature.

Notes and Hints and Stuff

  • These Are Suggested Amounts
I tend to add more like 12oz of chocolate chips and a cup of coconut. It's not a science with this recipe. Whatever feels right.
  • Try Other Toppings
These would be good with butterscotch, peanut butter, or white chocolate chips. Or with different kinds of nuts. Or even with chopped candied cherries. This recipe really only requires the crust, the condensed milk, and some toppings to be successful.
