Chocolate "McMullen" Cookies

Apparently these are from a relative, somehow. I guess we're related to someone called "McMullen"...

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup cocoa
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2-3 mini marshmallows or 1/2 large marshmallow per cookie
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 10 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 6 Tbsp melted butter
  • 8 Tbsp cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • dash of salt

Doesn't Get Much Better Than These

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix flour, 1 cup cocoa, sugar, milk, 1 tsp salt, shortening, and 2 tsp vanilla in a large bowl. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet. Bake 8 minutes. Remove from the oven, put 1/2 a large marshmallow or 2-3 mini marshmallows on each cookie, return to oven for 2 more minutes. Remove from oven, cool, and frost.

Frostingy Goodness

Combine powdered sugar, 10 Tbsp cocoa, melted butter, cream, 1 tsp vanilla, and a dash of salt together in a small bowl. Stir until blended and smooth.

Notes and Hints and Stuff

  • Bigger is Better
I know it says to drop them by teaspoons, but go for the tablespoons. Then use a whole large marshmallow on top. Why go sensible?
