Lilith's Place

Seasonal and Special Events

Sometimes fun is just an ephemeral thing, there for a few hours or days and then gone. Around Portland, these short-term entertainments are usually festivals or celebrations. I've listed a few that are fun if you happen to be here at the right time of year!

Pumpkin Patch Corn Maize

Pumpkin Patch Corn Maize
2003 was the first time I'd ever visited Sauvie Island. I've been there three or four times so far in the past six months, so that should tell you my opinion of the place. See the See Someplace Else page for more info on the rest of the Island beyond the Maize.

The Maize was a lot of fun. Not as challenging as some I've been through, but they had the added fun of little hint cards, where questions matched key decision points in the maze, and right answers took you the most direct way. There were at least two places where you walked up to a bridge and could look down into the maze.

If you go at night around Halloween, it's open after dark and there are people "haunting" the maze. When we went, it was all people over 18 wandering amok, and it was fun. Go with friends. Scare each other.
